Unlike a car, the wheel isn’t centered under the steering pivot, so the pivoting causes the workbench to move. If they are not aligned, your dimensions will be wrong, and the corners will be weaker. Swivel delivers smooth rotation and holds its position well. Good stuff. By fastening the bar to the side, you are constraining it from the weak side-to-side deflection.
